I miss mixtape...

when i was teenagers, music wasn't the same like the new era when you can just listen from some site  for free, or you can just buy it for 2 dollar each song and there it goes to your itunes.

tapes, cassetes, radio, tv, it was luxury, MTV is a bomb channel, and when you hear you jam on tv, GOSH, that feeling can not describe nowadays...

i remember part of music is a Mix tape, you know... A mixtape, which usually reflects the musical tastes of its compiler, can range from a casually selected list of favorite songs, to a conceptual mix of songs linked by a theme or mood, to a highly personal statement tailored to the tape’s intended recipient.

and by the recipient, of course most of the time is "your Crush"...

Mixtapes were also a very personal way to express yourself to another person.  How many of us put together mixes for a loved family member or boyfriend/girlfriend?
The process of putting together a mix was almost as important as the finished tape itself.  Songs were played, chosen, rejected, and reordered to set just the right mood or sentiment.  Recording to tape required time and effort because you had to manually create the tape, one song at a time.
you know how you pour all your time, heart, head and soul on the making to make sure every song is related to how you feel or your situation.

remember i got a lot of mixtapes during my Junior High (or Middle School), and i made a quite views for someone (Hey Mark, if you read this, you know it was you! lol).

Some of the things i Miss about Mixtapes...

  • Every tape you made or received was one of a kind.
  • Making your tape as eclectic as possible to give the impression that you were some kind of all-knowing music genius.
  • Choosing whether you wanted to make your mix 60, 90, or 120 minutes long. There is an art to using each of them!
  • Setting aside a few hours to record the tape in real time, and imagining how someone would react to every song choice.
  • Editing tape in real time by learning how to hit the buttons at exactly the right moment.
  • Playing it cool when someone gave you a tape... ...but totally freaking out over it while listening to it alone in your bedroom. Someone made a tape just for you, and it was awesome!
  • Figuring out exactly where to put The Song That Says Exactly How You Feel on a crush tape.

of course nowadays... we have playlist in our phone, iphone, ipod or elses... i do, i have several playlist for several occasion, i have playlist when i am in love, i have playlist when i had my broken heart, i have my anxiety playlist, i have playlist that reminds me of some people.. i have it all

but it wasn't the same, there is some "effort:" you put when you make a mixtapes and that is one of a kind... when you made it or recieved it you know there is not only about the songs, but there is hidden messages behind it, and that's make it ultra special.

What was on My Mixtapes during the middleschool:
here's some list that i remembered, i usually get 2 hours tape when i can put about 16-20 songs...

- Aerosmith : I dont wanna miss a thing
- Weatus: Teenage Dirtbag
- Coldplay : Yellow
- Silverchair : Miss you love
- Nelly and Kelly : Dilema (DAMN! OF COURSE THIS SONG...)
Come Away With Me – Norah Jones
- Avril Lavigne : Skater boy (Yes he is... i think they ALL are...)

i dont really remember but that pretty much some of it and its pretty cool to see the reaction when i give it to someone, or even better, get one from someeone

of course nowadays getting Ipod with a special playlist will be nice but it wont be quite the same...  Dragging and dropping files just doesn’t have the same sense of thought and commitment.  They are too easily changed and replaced.
